The key I'm using stopped working this morning and I took it to Audi. They checked it and said the battery was dead and they had to replace it. The car was delivered new three weeks ago. Apparently batteries are not under warranty as it’s a wear and tear item so I had to pay for it?! 💁‍♂️ pretty crappy customer service on an £81k car.

I had the same problem after I took delivery in march, except this happened with both keys. I changed the batteries myself and then the new batteries also ran out after a couple of weeks. I reported this to Audi and they did some tests and couldn't find anything wrong, they replaced the batteries themselves and gave me some more spare batteries. The keys kept running down the batteries every couple of weeks.

Eventually Audi replaced one of the key fobs and left me with one of the originals. Today, 17 days after receiving the new key fob and new battery in the original key fob and both of them have died again. I'm at my wits end with this, each key burning through two batteries each per month!

Oh that’s not good! Do you know what type of battery they take so I can keep some spares… also to open it, I think you take the physical key out of the top and then prize it apart where the button to release the physical key is?! Many thanks

They take CR2032 batteries and yes that is how you open the case , takes a bit of force to prize it apart!.
Since you post I just tried to use my spare key , which has not been used since the day I took delivery in September and been kept a long way from the car in a Farraday box. It is dead !
I have tried 2 replacement batteries and it is still dead..( the batteries are old but unused so must have some power)
Have now put a spare battery in the glovebox

The key fob that Audi replaced the battery in two weeks ago is saying low battery again! Anyone had a resolution with Audi for this issue yet?
