I get my Q6 next week and I’m thinking about a front / rear dash cam.

Has anyone gone with Audi’s Universal Traffic Recorder and if so is it worth it? Does it have a parking mode?

It seems quite expensive and is a dealer fit I believe.

Thanks

Yes had this fitted front and rear and compared to my previous dash cam its a pain the the backside to connect to it.

You also can not connect and see the cameras from your phone when indoors either.

To me it's only use is for an accident other then that its a waste of money and go for a BlackVue.

With my old Blackvue I could access the cameras and get a live view anywhere, it meant I could look if there was an issue using the camera app and live view via the cameras via he app.

You can not do that with the Audi cameras, Blackvue saves to the cloud also.

I will not buy another Audi camera system.

Ah thanks! How can you access the Blackvue ones all the time, do they connect to WiFi or do they have a SIM card?

I had a cheap sim card and dongle and it would connect anywhere.

Sim card lasted 12 months.

Miss having this on the Q6.

I had the dealer fit dash cam F & R on my old Q5 TFSI e and found it rather good, although an expensive £600+ , add on. Interesting the dealer removed it when they sold the car. I was always concerned that any other make fitted may cause warranty issues. I decided not to go on one for my Q6.

Was you able to access the camera without being in the car?

You can not with the current version.

Only any use for knocks or recording when driving.

Yes I sat in the car and it had recordings of people being around it, say in a car park when not sat in car - proximity alert and if the car was hit. Luckily that never happened
